I have a really funny story of how I booked a holiday to NZ in October 2026.

There is a bit of a backstory. In January 2020 I booked a 10ish day holiday to NZ. Then there was a pandemic! I was able to get most of my money back from the tour I booked, but I was unable to get a refund for the flights. I then forgot about it, and didn’t feel like going!

Fast forward to a few days ago. I got a call from the travel agent I had booked with. She had a call from airNZ, and I had 3 days to book a flight to travel before the end of 2026. Let the panic begin!

I had to get some holidays approved, get Nala into the Cat Hotel and where to fly to! I got holidays approved for late October/early November. Nala is all booked!

I decided to fly in and out of Queenstown. I am going to see a travel agent to book accommodation, tours etc. I am just waiting to hear back from her. I know I want to do a Milford Sound tour, a jetboat ride and maybe a winery tour! But I will wait to talk to my travel agent and see what she suggests.

I am excited, but also a bit nervous. It will be my first time flying internationally on my own. But it’s a 3 hour flight (less time than going to Perth), they speak English and drive on the same side of the road as Australia!

I even ordered a sim card for my phone!

I also should be almost at my goal weight by the time I go!
